US company brings proprietary microwave technology to HK

MedWaves, Inc., a United States-based biomedical company announced Friday it is expanding its operations into Hong Kong through newly established MedWaves Hong Kong Limited.

MedWaves, Inc., a United States-based biomedical company announced Friday it is expanding its operations into Hong Kong through newly established MedWaves Hong Kong Limited.

The new company will develop and commercialize MedWaves' proprietary microwave technology throughout Asia from its new basein Hong Kong.

MedWaves, Inc. has leveraged its patented medical microwave technology to design, develop and produce a catheter-based cardiacablation system for arterial fibrillation, the most common form ofheart disease.

President of MedWaves George Leung said the quality of the people, the resources, and the location were the primary factors that led them to select Hong Kong as the base for development and commercialization of their microwave catheter ablation system in Asia.

Welcoming MedWaves' decision to expand its business to Hong Kong, Director-General of Investment Promotion Mike Rowse said theplanned development and commercialization of the company's technology will help enrich the technological base of Hong Kong's biotechnology industry.
