China becomes largest exporter of peanuts

China exported some 600,000 tons of peanuts in 2003, accounting for about 40 percent of the global export volume, which is expected to reach 1.48 million tons, reported Wednesday's Economic Daily.

The figure was much bigger than other major peanut exporters, such as the United States and Vietnam, the paper said.
