Caterpillar Inc., one of the world top 500 enterprises signed an agreement with Heilongjiang Engineering University (HLJEU) Wednesday through Ves Trac, Caterpillar's agent in China, to train technical personnel in mechanical engineering.
According to the agreement, from 2004 HLJEU will train personnel in mechanical engineering for Caterpillar and Ves Trac, while Caterpillar and its agent will provide experimental equipment and a training base for HLJEU, and will employ at least 10 graduates each year.
Caterpillar, based in the US, boasts a 20 percent market share of excavating machinery in China.
"As China gears up to revitalize northeastern China the demand for technical personnel will be greatly boosted in the near future", said C.K.Tsang, president of Ves Tac.
"So it's a long-term plan for Caterpillar to train enough personnel to face the fierce competition predicted to come with the rejuvenation of northeast China," Tsang said.
