Tsinghua tops on China's university list
China's university ranking list for this year has come out, with the famous Tsinghua University retaining first place. Tsinghua's long time competitor Peking University came in second, followed by Hangzhou-based Zhejiang University and Shanghai-based Fudan University.
The list was done by a group of researchers at the China Management Science Academy to strict criteria.
These include personnel development and research ability.
Science and technology papers published internationally weigh greatly in favour of the research ability rating.
In recently years, China has worked on establishing world class universities. Tsinghua University and Peking University have refocused as research universities, rather than just training institutes.
Tsinghua performs well in engineering fields, while Peking University tops in many other areas, like Literature, Science, Law and Medicine.
