Myanmar Prime Minister Khin Nyunt on Wednesday reiterated that his country will, as always, stick to the "one China" policy.
Khin Nyunt made the pledge while meeting with visiting Chinese cultural delegation, led by Vice Minister of Culture Meng Xiaosi.
The policy will be firmly adhered to any time and on any occasion, he said, adding that there is only friendship and cooperation between Myanmar and China with no problem existing between the two.
He said the Myanmar-China friendship is consolidated and cooperating bilaterally, regionally and internationally is now in good progress.
For his part, Meng Xiaosi noted that Sino-Myanmar friendly ties dated back more than 2,000 years ago. In the 1950s, the two countries forged the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. Myanmar adopts an active and independent foreign policy, dealing friendly with all countries in the world, especially attaching importance to the development of neighborly and friendly ties with neighboring countries.
She went on to say that in recent years, there were frequent exchanges of visits at high level between the two countries. These visits have strengthened the friendly and cooperative ties between them.
She added that enhancing cultural exchange between China and Myanmar is bound to further promote the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting was also attended by Myanmar Foreign Minister U WinAung, Minister of Culture Kyi Aung, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Li Jinjun and Cultural Councilor Pan Feng.
The five-member Chinese cultural delegation arrived here on Tuesday for a four-day goodwill visit to Myanmar.
Myanmar is the second leg of the delegation's tour. Before Myanmar, they have visited Malaysia and will proceed to Bangladesh and Thailand.
