SCO foreign ministers arrive in Beijing
Foreign ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states arrived in Beijing Wednesday for the SCO foreign ministers' meeting scheduled for Thursday.
Foreign ministers of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states arrived in Beijing Wednesday for the SCO foreign ministers' meeting scheduled for Thursday.
The foreign ministers, Li Zhaoxing from China, Kasymzhomart Tokayev from Kazakhstan, Askar Aytmatov from Kyrgyzstan, Igor Ivanov from Russia, Talbak Nazarov from Tajikistan, and Sodik Safaev from Uzbekistan will attend the meeting and the opening ceremony of the secretariat of the SCO.
At the Moscow Summit in May 2003, heads of state of SCO membersdecided to set up a secretariat in Beijing for the organization's daily operation. Zhang Deguang, former Chinese vice foreign minister and former Chinese ambassador to Russia was appointed to be the first SCO secretary-general.
