In January 2003, about 29 people were killed in a strong earthquake in western and central Mexico, which measured 7.6 on the Richter Scale.
In June, 2003, a series of earthquakes struck several Latin American countries. The earthquakes measured, on the Richter scale, 6.7 degrees in Argentina, 6.2 in Chile, 7.0 in Brazil and Peru, and 4.2 in Mexico.
