More foreign leaders send condolences over China's gas blowout

More foreign leaders and senior officials have sent letters of condolence to their Chinese counterparts and expressed sincere condolences to the victims' families over the gas blowout in the Chongqing Municipality in southwest China, which killed at least 198 people.

Among those sending condolence letters to Chinese President Hu Jintao were Than Shwe, Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council; South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun, Russian President Vladimir Putin and French President Jacques Chirac.

Among those sending messages of condolence to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao were Myanmar Prime Minister Khin Nyunt and French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

In a letter to Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong, Vice Chairman of the Myanmar State Peace and Development Council Maung Aye expressed his sincere condolences to the families of victims.

Among those sending condolence letters to Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing were South Korean Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Yoon Young-kwan and Myanmar Foreign Minister U Win Aung.
