The training spacesuit of China's first astronaut Yang Liwei, and two large satellite images of Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta sent by China's first manned space mission to Hong Kong is to be on display from Wednesday to Feb. 20, 2004.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition Tuesday, Secretary for Home affairs Patrick Ho said that since the first manned space flight in mid-October and subsequent visit of the delegation, Hong Kong people's passion for aerospace science has grown.

"The achievements of aerospace science and technology in China and the visit of the delegation remain alive in the memories of many Hong Kong people. It is hoped that this passion can be sustained in different ways," said Ho.

Also on display in the Hong Kong Science Museum are the stamps and covers commemorating China's first manned space mission, several videos on the launch of the Shenzhou-5 spaceship and the development of China's manned space project, as well as other memorabilia from previous exhibitions devoted to China's space project.

To mark the donation of the training spacesuit of Yang Liwei toHong Kong, four local celebrities have denoted 5 million HK dollars (0.64 billion US dollars) to the Hong Kong Community Chest.
