Nanjing Massacre remembered

Black-necked cranes spend winter in Tibet

Black-necked cranes are seen in a nature reserve located in the Lhasa River valley in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, Dec. 13, 2003. Black-necked cranes are the only cranes known to live on plateaus. There are some 5,000 black-necked cranes in the world and most of them spend the winter and breed in Tibet, which has therefore strengthened the protection of the rare bird. (Xinhua)
