Chinese Defense Minister Meets Peruvian Guests

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met in Beijing Wednesday with General Victor Bustamante, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Peru, and his party.

Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met in Beijing Wednesday with General Victor Bustamante, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Peru, and his party.

Cao, also a state councilor and vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission (CMC), said bilateral relations between China and Peru have enjoyed smooth development since the two sides established diplomatic ties 32 years ago.

The two sides have cooperated effectively in various fields including the military fields, he said.

Cao hoped that the two sides can joint hands to further the development of relations between two countries and armed forces.

He expressed his appreciation of the Peruvian government's support for the Chinese government on the Taiwan issue.

Bustamante said Peru values its relations with China, and is ready to promote the friendly military relations between the two sides.
