Wu Guanzheng, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Tuesday with Gualberto Napoleon Villa Barragan, acting Chairman of Ecuador's Patriotic January 21 Society Party (PSP), the ruling party of Ecuador.
Wu said Sino-Ecuadorian ties had developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties 23 years ago, and the two sides had fruitful economic cooperation and strengthened exchanges in various fields.
He appreciated the Ecuadorian government's understanding and support for the Chinese government on the Taiwan issue, hoping that the two sides could make joint efforts to push forward the in-depth, all-round bilateral ties.
He congratulated the two sides on establishing friendly party-to-party relations.
Gualberto Napoleon Villa Barragan said that the PSP was a young party in Ecuador and became the ruling party recently.
The CPC's experience as a party in power for more than 50 years is valuable to the PSP to promote economic and social development of Ecuador, he noted.
The PSP was ready to increase its exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to further consolidate and develop the bilateral relations of the two countries.
