Romanian President Leaves for Chongqing

Romanian President Ion Iliescu left here Friday morning for Chongqing municipality in southwest China to continue his seven-day state visit to the country.

Romanian President Ion Iliescu left here Friday morning for Chongqing municipality in southwest China to continue his seven-day state visit to the country.

President Iliescu is here at the invitation of President Hu Jintao. Hu and Illiescu reached wide-range consensus during their talks on Wednesday. The Romanian president also met with Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), and premier Wen Jiabao.

Besides Chongqing, President Iliescu will also travel to Shanghai and Hong Kong.
