China Ties Chile 0-0 in Soccer Friendly
China held Chile to a scoreless draw in Wednesday's friendly international at 17,000-capacity Tianjin Minyuan Stadium.

Chile, which has advanced to the World Cup final stage for seven times, failed to call up their oversea players since the European-based players would have arrived in China only hours before kick-off, according to FIFA regulations which only allow clubs to release players 48 hours before friendly international.

Manuel Neira, Chile's most powerful striker burst out at the 20th minute, shooting at the bar after a brilliant passing from midfielder Arturo Sanhueza which sliced the right line of China's defense.

Seven minutes later, Chinese forward Li Yi fired home through a goalmouth scramble for the youngster-packed squad, but the goal was deemed void as it had been proved to be outside.

In the 36th minute, defender Zhou Ting launched a long-range shoot but Chile's goalkeeper Neison Tapia pulled off a diving one-handed stop to keep the game goalless.

China's another best chance came at the 70th minute as forward Li Yi's solo drive failed to break through Tapia's hand.
