Former Ugandan Dictator Amin Buried in Saudi Arabia
Former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin was buried on Saturday afternoon in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he had earlier died in hospital after being critically ill for weeks.
Former Ugandan dictator Idi Amin was buried on Saturday afternoon in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia where he had earlier died in hospital after being critically ill for weeks.
"He is buried. The family decided and we have buried him in Jeddah," Ali Amin, son of Idi Amin told press Saturday in Jinja, some 80 km east of Kampala.
Amin, who ruled the east African country between 1971 and 1979,had been living in exile, mainly in Saudi Arabia, since he was ousted by Tanzanian troops and Ugandan exiles on April 11, 1979.
The former Ugandan dictator is survived by four wives and 45 children. The wives are Madina Amin in Uganda, Sarah Amin , Norah Amin and the newly wed who was at his bedside, according to local newspaper The Monitor.
Sarah Amin operates a restaurant in East London. Norah Amin first fled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo in 1979 but her current whereabouts are unknown.
