Sri Lankan PM Starts China Tour

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka arrived on Saturday at Xiamen, a coastal city in southeastern China, for a five-day working visit to China from Aug.9 to 13.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe of Sri Lanka arrived on Saturday at Xiamen, a coastal city in southeastern China, for a five-day working visit to China from Aug.9 to 13.

During the trip, he will meet Chinese leaders and exchange views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

Wickremesinghe was invited by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao. It isthe first visit to China by a Sri Lankan prime minister in 14 years.

Xiamen Mayor Zhang Changping met with Wickremesinghe Saturday evening and briefed guest on Xiamen's economic development.

Wickremesinghe said Sri Lanka and China have great business opportunities in the fields of information technology, tourism andfishery.
