Tianjin to Host 12th Asian Men's Volleyball Championship

Tianjin of China will playhosts to the 12th Asian men's volleyball championship from September 5 to 12, with the top two finishers qualifying for the World Cup this year.

Tianjin of China will playhosts to the 12th Asian men's volleyball championship from September 5 to 12, with the top two finishers qualifying for the World Cup this year.

Wei Jizhong, president of the Asian volleyball federation, saidhere on Wednesday that the championship, first to be held in China,will feature the best squads in Asia, with the top two finishers qualifying for the World Cup in November, and the best five squadsfor the 2004 Athens Olympic qualifying tournaments.

Already registered for the championships are 15 squads from South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates,Qatar, Iran, Australia and the hosts China.
