Fireworks Factory Blast in Fujian

Rescue workers comb the rubble of a flattened fireworks factory in East China's Fujian Province, in the hope of finding survivors of an explosion. Three people were killed in a blast, which took place at around 8 am July 31, 2003. Eight injured people were taken to hospital and another six people were still missing by press time last night.[

Severe Drought Hits Jiangxi Province

Running from Xining, capital of northwest China's Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, capital of Tibet, the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, once completed, will have a total length of 1,956 km and be the longest plateau railway with the highest elevation in the world.

Light Railway in Chongqing Will Go into Operation

The photo shows a section of light railway of Jiaoxin Line under construction in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality. The whole length of Jiaoxin Line is 18 kilometers. Project phase 1 with a length of 14,35 kilometers will go into operation by the end of next June.
