Chinese Girl Wins First Prize at Ukrainian Dancing Festival

Chinese girl Yuan Yuan won the first prize of the international group competition of the Ukrainian International Folk Dancing Festival Sunday in Kiev.

Chinese girl Yuan Yuan won the first prize of the international group competition of the Ukrainian International Folk Dancing Festival Sunday in Kiev.

Yuan presented a folk dancing named "Blessing" at the finals which were held at the International Cultural Art Center in the capital. Her performance, full of characteristics of China's Mongolian ethnic group, won the hearts of the judges and an audience of over 1,000.

Yuan, who graduated from Hangzhou Normal College in eastern China's Zhejiang Province in 2002, with dancing as her major, is currently studying in Ukraine for a master's degree.

The April 19-27 festival, the third of its kind and sponsored by the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture and Arts, drew nearly 1,000 dancers from more than 10 countries, including Belarus, China, Georgia, Germany, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia and Ukraine.
