China and Indonesia should contribute more to the establishment of a fair and rational international political and economic order, top legislator Wu Bangguo said Monday.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), made the remarks while meeting with A. M.Fatwa, deputy speaker of the House of Representatives of Indonesia.

As friendly neighbors, Wu said, China and Indonesia had witnessed increasing high-level exchanges and expanding cooperation in all fields in recent years.

The two countries cooperated soundly in regional and international affairs, Wu said, noting that China valued the positive role Indonesia played in promoting relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Fatwa said Indonesia and China, as two big Asian countries, shared a traditional friendship.

Fatwa stressed that Indonesia would adhere to the one-China policy.

Fatwa also expressed thanks for the Chinese government's consistent support for Indonesia's efforts to maintain the unification and independence of the nation.
