HK Produces CD-ROM to Support Students with Articulation Problem
The Speech Therapy Services Section of Hong Kong's Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) has produced a CD-ROM on articulation as an initiative to strengthen the support for primary school students with articulation problems.
The Speech Therapy Services Section of Hong Kong's Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) has produced a CD-ROM on articulation as an initiative to strengthen the support for primary school students with articulation problems.
"The CD-ROM is to provide teachers with a more in-depth understanding of the Cantonese phonological system and common articulation errors of students," an EMB spokesman said Monday.
"In addition, teachers can learn from the resourceful tool a variety of management skills which enable them to offer timely anddue support to students with articulation problems," he said.
"It also highlights the important role of parents of such students, with advice on how to provide guidance in support of their practices at home," the spokesman added.
Each primary school can obtain from their respective Regional Education Offices two copies of the CD-ROM for school use and another for their Parent-Teacher Associations.
A total of 3,000 CD-ROMs have been produced for all primary schools. The electronic version is available for public use at theHKedCity website (www.hkedcity.net/resources).
Support services provided by the Speech Therapy Services Section include school-based consultation visits and support programs, assessment and follow-up services for students, trainingand counseling for teachers and parents as well as professional consultation to speech therapy personnel in special schools.
The section also produces various resource packages for speech and language impaired children.
