China Olympic Squad to be Dismissed after Qualifier Postponed

The China Olympic squad will be dismissed late this month after their first qualifier for the Athens Olympic Games scheduled for May 3 was postponed on Thursday.

The China Olympic squad will be dismissed late this month after their first qualifier for the Athens Olympic Games scheduled for May 3 was postponed on Thursday.

The Chinese Football Association said that after discussions with coaching staff, the under-23 national squad will be disbandedon a temporary basis on April 27. All the players will return to their clubs to play the Chinese FA Cup matches.

Head coach Shen Xiangfu said: "We regret that the qualifier hasbeen postponed by the Asian Football Confederation. We have been making full preparation for the match.

"But our confidence has not been shaken and the morale not affected. The team has been training for a week and we will work even harder in the next few days before going home."
