Overseas Software Makers Shift Emphasis to Western China
Software manufacturers in Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK) have decided to shift their emphasis of development to western China after visiting the region.

Kim Dong Wook, president of the Creative Entertainment Co. Ltd.of the ROK, said his company would open a representative office in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
"We used to cooperate with one selected partner in each country.In China, we had pleasant cooperation with Shanghai-based Shengda Network Development Co. Ltd.," Kim said.
But, he found, after a recent visit to Chengdu, there were morethan one million game lovers in Sichuan, which led to a decision to set up a representative office in Chengdu.
Ryuichi Yamaki, director of the Bothtec Co. of Japan, said, "Japan shares a similar cultural background with China." He believed his company would enhance cooperation with Chengdu after the city was upgraded from 10th to second place in China in terms of network games market share.
Chengdu, with a population of 11 million, leads capital cities in western China in gross domestic product. The monthly consumption of digital games is valued at tens of millions of yuan.
Hao Kangli, vice-mayor of Chengdu, said the city was working tobuild a game development incubation center at its high-tech development park. Some local universities would open game design courses.
