The seventh Investment and Trade Fair for Cooperation Between China's east and west opened Sunday in the historic city of Xi'an.
A total of 100,000 business people attended Sunday's opening ceremony. Among them were 1,200 business people from overseas, and members of 28 domestic delegations from different provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions.
The event featured investment and trade talks, and fairs for high-tech achievements and commodities, with 2,315 business booths and 8,000 square meters of outdoor exhibitions, said a spokesman.
The fair, launched in 1997, has become an important national economic and trade event and an important platform for exchanges and cooperation between China's east and west. It has played an active role in promoting the opening-up of the country's western regions.
The event was organized by Shaanxi Provincial Government, with the support of Chinese government ministries, other provincial governments, as well as organizations in Hong Kong and Macao, according to the spokesman.
