US Rose Festival Delegation Visits Shanghai

A 49-member delegation from the United States Rose Festival arrived Shanghai Saturday after more than two weeks of touring China.

A 49-member delegation from the United States Rose Festival arrived Shanghai Saturday after more than two weeks of touring China.

Vice-Mayor of Shanghai Jiang Sixian met with the delegation Saturday night and exchanged views on the development of international tourism.

Michael Riffey, president of the board of directors of the 2004US Rose Festival, said great changes had happened in Shanghai since his last visit four years ago.

Shanghai is the delegation's last stop in China. Since March 21,the delegation has visited many Chinese cities and interesting places like Beijing, Xi'an, Chengdu, Lhasa, Wuhan, the Three Gorges, and Chongqing.

The annual US Rose Festival was begun in 1890, and has become familiar to Shanghai citizens with the increasing tourism exchanges between Shanghai and the United States.
