The Panjiakou section of the Great Wall located in the Panjiakou reservoir in Manchu Autonomous County of Kuancheng in north China's Hebei Province. It is unique and named for "Great Wall beneath water". Built about 500 years ago, the 50-kilometer-long Panjiakou section and Xifengkou section of the Great Wall once were two key passes leading to northern and northeastern China in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
Hebei's Farmers Broom EconomyTwo peasant women of Bizhuang village put their hand-made brooms on the roof to dry them in the sun in Luannan county, north China's Hebei Province, March 24, 2003. These brooms will be sold abroad. Making brooms is a specialty of the Bizhuang village which has a history of 60 years. In these years, their broom products have dominated the market following their high quality but low price strategy. Some products are exported in South Korea, Japan and other countries. The whole village produces six million brooms annually and its sales volume reaches 40 million yuan.
