More Export-oriented Processing Zones Set Up in China
The central government approved the establishment of another 13 export-oriented processing zones recently, bringing the total number of such zones to 38.
The central government approved the establishment of another 13 export-oriented processing zones recently, bringing the total number of such zones to 38.
The newly-approved Jinan export-oriented processing zone, covering three square kilometers, is expected to host about 150 enterprises in the fields of electronic information, software development, precision machinery and garment making.
At an estimated cost of five billion yuan (more than 600 million US dollars), the zone is expected to generate three billion US dollars annually from exports. Infrastructure construction in the zone has been completed.
The Qingdao Export-oriented Processing Zone, also one of the 13 newly-approved zones, covers an area of 2.8 square kilometers. It consists of a processing area, a storage area and office and customs facilities. Infrastructure construction in the zone is expected to be completed in three months.
