Thirteen Dead after Road Accident in North China

Thirteen people are dead and more than 30 are injured after a traffic accident at Fucheng County in north China's Hebei Province Monday evening.

Thirteen people are dead and more than 30 are injured after a traffic accident at Fucheng County in north China's Hebei Province Monday evening.

Twenty-one of the injured people were still being treated in hospital at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, including two whose conditions were described as serious.

Six of the dead were farmers. The identities of the others was still unknown.

The accident happened at 6:17 p.m. Monday on a highway in Fucheng County when a passenger bus and a container truck collided. Twelve people on the bus, including the driver, died at the scene.

Senior officials of Fucheng County and Hebei Province rushed to the scene immediately after the accident to supervise rescue efforts. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
