Serbian police have arrested 318 suspects relating to the assassination of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic on Wednesday, said the Serbian government Sunday.
In the sweeping manhunt, police also seized a large number of guns, hand grenade, explosives, drugs, stolen cars and communication equipment, said the Serbian Interior Ministry in a statement.
The government accused on Wednesday a criminal group "Zemun Clan" of having committed the assassination.
Zemun Clan has been engaged in political murders and drug trafficking since former Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic's regime, said the statement.
Djindjic, 50, who played a pivotal role in the downfall of Milosevic in October 2000, died on Wednesday in Belgrade emergency hospital after he was shot and critically wounded near the government building.
