3,000 Families Lose Homes in 7-hour Manila Fire

An estimated 3,000 families lost their homes in a seven-hour overnight fire in Manila, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Thursday.

An estimated 3,000 families lost their homes in a seven-hour overnight fire in Manila, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said on Thursday.

At least three casualties including one with high blood pressure were reported in the fire. The fire also caused an initially calculated damage of 5 million pesos (around 90,000 US dollars) before it was put out on early Thursday morning.

The fire reached general alarm not long after it was reported, a protocol that called for all fire fighting units from the entire city to respond, the BFP said.

Fire disaster probers are still trying to determine the course of the fire.
