A convicted perpetrator of parcel bombing that had killed a mobile company manager was executed earlier this year in east China's Zhejiang Province, the local people's court has confirmed.

Yan Liang, a clerk at the Quzhou Branch of China Unicom, sent an anonymous parcel last August with a homemade bomb inside to his manager surnamed Chen. Chen was killed immediately when he opened the mail and the bomb exploded.

Yan, 31, was tracked down by police and taken into custody the following month and was accused of a revenge murder, according to the Higher People's Court of Zhejiang Province.

He reportedly came to hate the company's officer, surnamed Wang, because he believed Wang's rejection of his use of the company car to take his father to the hospital had directly resulted in his father's death of cerebral hemorrhage.

Yan's anger with Wang later shifted to Chen because of other spats and he finally decided to take his revenge on Chen.

Yan was given the death penalty on October 22, 2002, while Xu Zhenxiu, who sold the explosives to Yan, was sentenced to seven years in jail.
