Oil Tanker Collides into Fishing Boat in South China

A 1,000-dwt oil tanker bumped the tail of a fishing boat in the early hours Tuesday in the sea outside south China's Guangdong Province, causing the fishing boat to sink with seven fishermen on board.

A 1,000-dwt oil tanker bumped the tail of a fishing boat in the early hours Tuesday in the sea outside south China's Guangdong Province, causing the fishing boat to sink with seven fishermen on board.

The seven have been all rescued by local marine police, and the "Jinhaiyou No. 1" oil tanker, which left the scene immediately after the collision, has been seized by police.

The accident took place near the Dapeng Cape of Shenzhen. The oil tanker from Shandong Province, with a crew of 13, was planning to sail from an oil storage bank in Shenzhen to Jieyang City of Guangdong.
