Two helicopters, used for anti-drug operations by the Mexican Procuratorate, crashed on Monday in Olinala city, in the southern state of Guerrero, killing all the seven people aboard.
A local radio quoted witnesses as saying that one of the helicopters was attacked by snipers.
However, the Mexican Procuratorate described the remark as speculation, saying it did not rule out other possibilities such as engine malfunction or collision between the two helicopters.
Later in the day, the Mexican Procuratorate sent a rescue helicopter to the scene of the accident, taking the victims' bodies to Chilpancingo, the capital city of Guerrero. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
