During the special function of the launching the website, His Excellency Ambassador Luke Ratuvuki said that today's occasion will bring Fiji and the Pacific closer particularly to the People of China.
Ratuvuki said by having on-line Internet presence will not only mean operating from 8.30am to 5.00pm. 5 days a week but accessing Fiji's info. 24 hours a day and 7 days a week from anywhere in China and globally.
The People's Republic of China is huge and vast, 9 million sq. km in area with 1.3 billion people as compared to Fiji's 18,000 sq. km land area with 700,000 people. Practically incomparable and without web-link we will remain isolated.
Ambassador Ratuvuki stated that the biggest hurdles of languages can only be simplified with "bilingual simultaneous interpretation clearly written and accessible".
One of the highlights of the website is the link to other websites, organisations such as PIFTO (Pacific Island Forum Trade Office), Chinese news media --- China Daily, People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency with Government of Fiji, Fiji Live and Fiji Village sites for easy access not only to the Chinese but also to Fiji and other Pacific Island viewers.
