Chinese Goods Shopping Center to be Unveiled in Kathmandu

A shopping center named "China Town" is scheduled to open business on March 6 in Kathmandu, The Himalayan Times newspaper reported Tuesday.

A shopping center named "China Town" is scheduled to open business on March 6 in Kathmandu, The Himalayan Times newspaper reported Tuesday.

"The shopping center is the first of its kind in the country, where a wide range of Chinese goods will be available for both retail and wholesale," the independent English daily quoted Niraj Rai, president of the newly-formed China Town Shopping Center Business Association (CTSCBA), as saying.

A wide range of Chinese goods including electronics, computer parts, ready-made garments, shoes, cosmetics, dolls, gift items, machinery tools, audio-visual goods, sanitary ware and agro-instruments will be available at the center, Rai noted.

Located at a multi-storied complex, the shopping center spreadsover 10,000 square meters with 268 rooms, he said, adding that there is also a parking space of more than 3,000 square meters in the complex.

He added that one finance company, restaurants, money exchange counters and groceries have already been established in the complex, which will added value to the center.

In order to carry out business activities in the center, an 11-member CTSCBA was formed recently with Niraj Rai as the president.
