China and the Philippines have forged an agreement to focus on development of Filipino athletes in wushu, diving, fin swimming, table tennis and gymnastics, officials said Tuesday.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Eric Buhain metwith visiting vice minister of the State Sports General Administration of China, Li Zhijian, who vowed to help the countryachieve some measure of success in the selected sports.
The agreement will include training, competition, coaching and sports medicine on the disciplines wherein China is regarded as a superpower.
The Chinese official invited Buhain to Beijing to finalize talks and sign the memorandum of agreement in April.
Li was accompanied by Chinese Wushu Federation President Li Jie,Chinese Olympic Committee Deputy Secretary General Liu Baoli and ambassador Wang Chun Gui during the meeting held Saturday.
