Overseas Chinese Encouraged to Help Increase Sino-foreign Exchanges

A senior Chinese leader called on overseas Chinese Friday to help increase Sino-foreign exchanges and cooperation to enhance the nation's modernization drive.

A senior Chinese leader called on overseas Chinese Friday to help increase Sino-foreign exchanges and cooperation to enhance the nation's modernization drive.

Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, made the remark while addressing 62 new advisors of the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (ACFROC).

Jia lauded the historical contributions made to the country's revolutionary causes and to its reform and opening-up processes byoverseas Chinese.

Jia pointed out that the tens of millions of overseas Chinese living in different countries and regions have become an importantforce supporting the country's construction and development.

He encouraged the new advisors to respond to the wishes and requirements of overseas Chinese and to make further efforts to boost China's cooperation with other countries and to help achievethe country's peaceful unification.
