Guangzhou Decorated with Flowers for Spring Festival

The picture taken on Jan. 25, 2003 shows a huge parterre on the pedestrian street square of Zhiwan District in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province. The whole city is decorated with flowers and permeated with a festive atmosphere as the traditional Chinese Spring Festival draws near.

Beijing Opera in Broadway

Qi Shufang, a distinguished Beijing Opera artist, stars female General Mu Guiying in the play "Women Generals of the Yang Family" at the New Victory Theatre of Broadway in New York, the United States Jan. 24, 2003. This is the first time that strong-lineup classical Beijing Opera makes its historical entrance onto the Broadway Theatre.
