When the selection of head coach for the national football team by China Football Association (CFA) has entered a substantial phase, the Dutchman ARIE HAAN is expected to hold talks with CFA on specific contractual clauses regarding coaching the Chinese national team.
The responsible working group under CFA Monday afternoon made a presentation on the progress achieved in the past five months. Having personal contacts with the nine European coaches, the group put forward the respective assessments in accordance with standard set by CFA.
As learned, ARIE HAAN, 54, has been twice recruited in the Dutch national football team 1974 and 1978 both of which were runner-up in the World Cup. Though he's not yet coached a national team, he is experienced in serving many noted clubs in Europe, and once led Anteweipu, Stuttgart, Nurnberg, Feyenood, Anderlecht etc to achieve good results.
In the meantime, it was stressed that employing foreign coaches will not radically improve China's football undertakings. Foreign coaches are not the Savior. They will by their advanced concepts in coaching uplift China's football level, but cannot cure the crux of the matter in a short time. Approaching the issue of employing foreign coaches, a rational analysis should be made, coupled with the belief that the Chinese football players will raise their ability under the guidance of foreign coaches.
