Largest Protest in China's Island Province

Some 115,000 Taiwan fishermen and farmers gathered in Taipei on November 23 to stage a protest march against Taiwan authorities' decision to abolish the agricultural credit co-operatives, often the only source of funding for poor farmers and fishermen.

"Yuehaitie No.1", China's first transoceanic train ferryboat, arrived in the Qiongzhou Straits on Sunday, where it will operate as a transportation link between railways in Guangdong and Hainan provinces.  

US Navy Destroyer on a Port Call in Qingdao

The US Navy destroyer USS Paul F. Foster docked in Qingdao, Shandong Province on November 24, 2002. The destroyer, currently operating as part of the US Seventh Fleet in routine operations in the western Pacific, is on a four-day port call in Qingdao. The destroyer, with some 340 crew, is the sixth US warship to stop in Qingdao, but the first since August 2000 in another sign of warmer ties between the US and China, also the first US warship to visit a Chinese mainland port since the Sino-US aircraft collision last year.

Migratory Bird in HK Nature Reserve

The nature reserve, with a total area of 380 hectares, is located at the northwestern part of New Territories, serving as an important stopover for the migratory birds from Siberia and the Chinese mainland to Australia to spend their winter-time during the distant journey.
