The meeting of procurators-general of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states opened in Shanghai Thursday to strengthen international cooperation in the judicial area.

Luo Gan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and a state councilor, said in a letter of congratulation to the meeting that the SCO had played an important role since its establishment in strengthening mutual trust and good neighborliness, safeguarding regional peace, security and stability, promoting cooperation, and enhancing the economic, social and cultural development of the SCO member states.
Luo said the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism was one of the SCO cooperation areas, and it was the duty of procuratorate agencies to strengthen law enforcement, fight international crimes of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and safeguard regional security and stability.
Han Zhubin, procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, said that China had signed a series of judicial aid agreements with other SCO member countries in recent years, and cooperation and communication between procuratorate agencies had expanded.
Facing the new situation, the procuratorate agencies of the SCO member countries should further consolidate and deepen cooperationin procuratorate areas and find ways to expand cooperation, said Han.
The two-day meeting is the first high-level meeting of procuratorates under the framework of the SCO, focusing on further cooperation in battling terrorism, separatism and extremism.
