CPPCC Chairman Meets Moldovan Guests

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with the president of the Parliament of Moldova, Eugenia Ostapciuk, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), met with the president of the Parliament of Moldova, Eugenia Ostapciuk, in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday.

Li said the relations between China and Moldova had developed smoothly since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1992. The two sides maintained frequent contact between their high-ranking officials and had developed mutual trust and cooperation in both political and economic terms, he added. The two countries supported each other in many international issues.

He said he was convinced that the president's visit to China would help enhance mutual understanding and push forward friendly relations between the two countries.

Ostapciuk thanked the Chinese side for its hospitality and warmreception. She briefed Li about the economic and social situation in Moldova and about the country's parliament.

She and her party arrived in Beijing on Sunday for a one-week goodwill visit to China at Li Ruihuan's invitation.
