Zhanjiang Becomes Important Passage in Southwest China

Some cargo vessels are berthed off the port of Zhanjiang of south China's Guangdong province August 24, 2002. Located on Leizhou Peninsula, Zhanjiang port, which is open to navigation to over 100 countries and regions all over the world, is one of china's 8 key ports and an important sea passage in southwest China. The volume of freight handled in Zhanjiang port is up to 12.29 million tons in the first 7 months this year, 14% increased compared to the correspond period of last year.

Indonesia Increases Tariff on Imported Rice

According to the department of agriculture estimation, the output of the rice in Indonesia will reach 52 million tons this year, which is able to meet the need of domestic market. In order to protect the benifits of domestic farmers, the government proposes to increase the tariff on imported rice by 750 Rupia (about 9 U.S cents) one kilogram.
