Chinese, Kenyan Heads of Trade Unions Meet in Beijing
Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) Wei Jianxing met with Francis Atwoli, general secretary of the Central Organization of Trade Unions of Kenya, in Beijing Wednesday.

Wei said the working class had grown stronger and further realized their economic, political and cultural interests in Chinasince the country began to reform, open up to the outside world and develop a socialist market economy more than 20 years ago.
At the same time, he said, economic and industrial relations inChina had also changed significantly. Chinese trade unions were facing ever greater tasks to safeguard the legitimate interests ofworkers.
He said Chinese trade unions had arduously carried out the guidelines of relying on the working class whole-heartedly and focused on the work of maintaining workers' interests.
Trade unions at all levels were carrying out the newly amended Law of Trade Unions by pushing forward the readjustment of industrial relations and bringing tangible benefits to workers, especially workers with difficulties.
He said this move aimed to protect, promote and direct the enthusiasm and creativity of workers to the achievement of the goals set by the Tenth Five-Year Plan.
Atwoli said both Kenya and China were developing countries. Thetrade unions of the two countries shared many common points. He said he had learned a lot of useful experience from China during his visit.
Atwoli said the Kenyan people thanked China for its selfless help, and the Chinese people, includidng Chinese workers, were true friends of the people of Kenya and Africa.
