Senior Leader Meets Newly-Elected Christian Heads

Senior Chinese leader Li Ruihuan met Monday with the newly-elected leaders of the country's national Christian bodies.

Senior Chinese leader Li Ruihuan met Monday with the newly-elected leaders of the country's national Christian bodies.

Li, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, congratulated the new leaders of the Three-Self Patriotic Movement Committee of the Protestant Churches of China and the China Christian Council.

The new leaders were elected at the just-concluded seventh National Christian Conference.

Li expressed the hope that the new leaders would faithfully implement the government's policy of religious freedom and independent management of religious affairs, bring Christianity into harmony with socialism and make new contributions to the building of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
