China will further open its artistic performance market to overseas in order to promote the artistic prosperity and develop the socialist market for artistic performances, said Liu Yuzhu, director of the Marketing Department under the Ministry of Culture (MOC).
A regulation on art performance management is now under revision to meet new trends and adapt to changes after China's entry into the World Trade Organization, according to the official.
The revised regulation will bring about positive effects on overseas art troupes, individuals and companies, he said, adding that market expansion will also be conducive to foreign art performance troupes to come to China.
The old regulation was issued on August 11, 1997, effective on October 1, 1997.
The new one will be released one month later, according to the official.
A huge art performance market is now taking shape in China.
According to MOC statistics, China now has 2632 art performance troupes, 1949 non-governmental ones, 222 fashion show-teams and 160 agencies.
