Chinese veteran forward Liu Yudong preferred the newly-lost Chinese Basketball Association ( CBA) League title to a double Most Valuable Player honor he won Sunday in Beijing.

"The MVP honor was not the thing I wanted most," said the 32- year-old Liu, who was named MVP of the league and MVP of the 2001- 2002 regular season Sunday evening. "I just wanted another CBA title."

Liu averaged 41.5 points in the CBA finals a week ago but saw his Bayi Rockets lose 3-1 to the Shanghai Sharks, accounting for their first defeat of their seven CBA finals in seven years.

"As long as I can walk, I will do my very best to win another CBA title," Liu said with the two MVP trophies in his hands.

Liu emerged as the Rockets' top star this season after forward Wang Zhizhi left for the NBA Dallas Mavericks and beat off several major injuries to his left knee and his thighs to become the league's leading scorer with 36.4 points per game in the regular season.

"Liu has suffered so many injuries that he could be considered a handicapped," said Bayi coach A Dijiang. "It is a miracle that he can still play so well on the field."

A Dijiang, who took the helm of the six-time CBA champions four days prior to the opening of the season before leading them to a seventh consecutive finals, shared the "Coach of The Year" honor with Li Qiuping, head coach of the newly-crowed Shanghai Sharks.

Yao Ming, who won a double MVP honor last season, took the " Shot Blocker of the Year" title. Having helped Shanghai clinch their first ever league title, Yao is set to take part in the NBA draft in June.
