Former Yugoslav Army Chief of Staff Dragoljub Ojdanic, a suspect wanted by the war crimes tribunal in The Hague, told local media Wednesday that he would goto The Hague by Yugoslav airline to face trial for alleged war crimes.

Ojdanic said he would not offer The Hague tribunal any testimony detrimental to former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, describing the relationship between them as one betweenchairman of the Supreme Defense Council and army Chief of Staff.

He also vowed not to make any remarks that run counter to the constitution and law of Yugoslavia as well as norms of international law.

Following the passage of a law by the federal parliament earlier this month to allow the handover of suspects to the U.N. tribunal, Ojdanic said in an earlier statement that he had been ready to stand for trial in The Hague tribunal, regarding it as a legal obligation required of him by his country and people.

Ojdanic rejected all the charges filed against him by The Haguetribunal and denied he committed any war crimes in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo.

He said what he did during his 1998-2000 term as army Chief of Staff is in full conformity with the federal constitution and law of Yugoslavia and the norms of international law.

Therefore, he could go to The Hague to defend for himself with a clear conscience, he added.
