Chinese Vice Premier Meets Berne Union Representatives

Chinese Vice Premier Wen Jiabao said in Beijing on Wednesday that China was ready to cooperate with the members of Berne Union.

Chinese Vice Premier Wen Jiabao said in Beijing on Wednesday that China was ready to cooperate with the members of Berne Union.

Wen made the remarks when meeting representatives of Berne Union taking part in a five-day Berne Union General Meeting in Beijing from April 22 to April 26.

During the meeting, Wen briefed the guests on the progress of China's reform and opening up.

Berne Union Chairman Vivian Brown, Vice-Chairman Peter Silberschmidt, Secretary General Kimberly Wiehl and Deputy Secretary General Lennart Skarp attended the meeting.

Berne Union, also called the International Union of Credit and Investment Insurers, aims to establish a set of rules and operational principles for its members to realize export credits and regulate insurance practice, and set up unified export credits conditions for international trade.

The People's Insurance Company of China (PICC), China's State- owned insurance giant, is a member of the Union.
