Sino-Cuban Ties Solid

Cuba said on Monday that relationsbetween the Cuban government and Chinese government, their peoplesand legislatures are solid.

Meeting visiting Vice President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People Li Guixian, President of Cuba's National Assembly of People's Power Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada said that cooperation between the two countries and their mutual support of each other are very important under present international circumstances.

Alarcon Expressed his country's gratitude to China for its backing in the international arena by noting a recent case in which China presented a no-action motion on the human rights resolution presented against Cuba at the United Nations Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

For his part, Li Guixian thanked Cuba for its persistent position of backing the one-China policy.

Li briefed Alarcon on the development plans of the Chinese government in the west, including the construction of dams, hydroelectric power plants, railroads and natural gas pipelines.

Li was in Havana for a four-day official visit.
